Nous vous présentons l’association GRAAL, seule structure française spécialisée dans la retraite des animaux de laboratoire, toutes espèces confondues, depuis 2005.
L’équipe du GRAAL sait que de nombreux animaux d’expérience se trouvent à bord de l’ISS (souris, 128 bébés pieuvres et 5.000 tardigrades – oursons d’eau).
Nous savons également que les petits animaux, qui vous ont rejoint jeudi 3 juin à bord du lanceur Falcon 9 de Space X, seront congelés avant d’entamer leur retour sur Terre.
Concernant les souris (études sur la cicatrisation), nous vous proposons de les accueillir à leur retour sur Terre afin de leur offrir la plus belle des retraites.
Le GRAAL travaille avec plus de 200 laboratoires français, qui lui font confiance, et nous espérons vivement que notre proposition retiendra votre attention.
Offrir une retraite à des souris, un petit geste pour l’homme, un grand pas pour l’éthique de la recherche spatiale ! »

The GRAAL Association is calling on French astronaut, Thomas Pesquet.
Greetings to Thomas and all the ISS crew,
We are conscious of your professional obligations and of the work currently being undertaken in the International Space Station, so we shall be brief.
We would like to introduce you to the GRAAL (Reflection and Action Group for Animals), an association established in 2005, which is the only French facility specialized in offering retirement to laboratory animals of all species.
The GRAAL team knows that there are a lot of test animals on board the ISS – mice, 128 young octopuses and 5,000 tardigrades (water bears).
We are also aware that the small animals which joined you on board the SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle on 3 June will be frozen before they begin their return to Earth.
Regarding the mice (being used for wound healing research), we would like to take them in on their return to Earth to offer them the best possible retirement.
The GRAAL works with more than 200 French laboratories, which regularly place their trust in us, so we sincerely hope that you will give our proposal due consideration.
Giving these mice a retirement would be a small gesture for humankind, but a giant step in terms of space research ethics!
